Rodney Mulder

December 15, 2015 by

TRU-Leaf-PlaceholderRodney (Rod) Mulder was certainly a very special person. He loved and believed in Jesus Christ as his savior and was known to have a “heart of gold.” Family was a top priority for him. He was a good husband, father, and grandfather and provided well for all. He always kept a positive attitude about life and work – enjoying his work every day. One of his favorite sayings was, “Get a job you enjoy and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” He was very clever as well as quick-witted and kept everyone laughing. He is greatly missed.

Velma Vass Tribute Wall Velma was a very loving, kind, and caring woman. Velma’s passion was shared with family & expressed through her sewing, with each stitch symbolized as a chapter throughout her life. Although this craft may be a bit time consuming, the final piece was always a well-deserved wait. Many things were learned from watching her do what she loved. Such as taking time with things for those you care for. Taking the smallest details in mind and knowing that the small things are most important. Cherish every moment because the memories are going to be held close to our heart.

Jeanne McGlathery PictureOur mother was incredibly gifted at growing plants. She always told us about her dream of heaven—beautiful gardens, no weeds.

We held Mom’s memorial service at my house and asked everyone who came to place a rock in the spot where her ashes were interred. Someone placed a lovely heart-shaped rock in the center. With the best of intentions, we surrounded the stone memorial with Mom’s favorite hybrid roses.

Later we discovered that the roses were also a favorite of deer that roam the property. Buds were promptly eaten just as color started to emerge. The summer following Mom’s death, we were surprised to find a volunteer blackberry cane steadily growing directly behind the stones. It gains height and vigor each year and the deer graze around it.

Every time we pass by the rocks and blackberry cane, we’re reminded of our mother’s resourcefulness, immense practicality, and love of all things beautiful and sweet.
